This specific project in my college ART115 course—inspired by Claes Oldenburg's transformational approach to sculpture— aimed to challenge conventional perceptions through the creation of three large soft sculptures: a king chess piece, a pawn, and a chessboard. I picked these specific objects to articulate symbols of allegorical references to depict broader narratives of power and insurgency. My interpretation of the project aims to connect these three sculptures in a way that suggests a coup d'état—a sudden, decisive exercise of power in politics. By carefully selecting colors, forms, and the positioning of the pieces on the board, the installation invites viewers to decode a narrative of uprising and change.
